is located in the College of Engineering at New Mexico State University.
M-TEC supports economic development in New Mexico by providing technical
assistance, outreach, training and engineering extension services throughout the
State. M-TEC has expertise in the engineering, manufacturing, product
development, prototyping and other related areas and uses the resources and
facilities located in the College of Engineering to assist businesses and
individuals.
As part of the land grant mission of NMSU, a business or individual who
seeks technical assistance can
apply online to access the service. M-TEC works
with new businesses, individuals and existing organizations that are seeking to
start or expand a business. M-TEC also works with NMSU faculty and staff in
support of research initiatives. The M-TEC team consists of engineers,
machinists, fabricators, and students and has many years of combined expertise.
The
online application asks potential customers to describe the economic
development potential, as a means and rational for taking on a project. M-TEC
can provide many engineering and training services related to mechanical/
electrical design and manufacturing to get a project from concept to finished
product. Our goal is to see a business or individual succeed in creating a new
company, growing an existing business, creating new jobs or adding wealth to the
community. M-TEC has assisted over 300 business and individuals and many success
stories.
M-TEC supports workforce development by providing
short course training activities and by
partnering with New Mexico High Schools and Community Colleges through programs such as
Project Lead The Way.
